Retreat 2010 overview

October 21, 2010

Here is an insiders peek at what happens at our bmd retreats.

We hold our retreat at the Heartland Inn in Winkler, we have the entire basement to ourselves!

The weekend started on Friday evening with the goody bags and a presentation from Myra and myself about where we had been this year, what we had done and what is new.  Then we had desert and continued on with our show and tell.

We had asked our students to send in an “old” picture of themselves. As their picture came on the screen, we all tried to guess who it might be. We also invite all our students to bring a piece for show and tell, it can be finished or a project in progress. This is a real highlight!

Our 8th annual retreat group  – our friends!

We asked all of our retreater’s to bring the instructions for their favorite 12″ block. Then we gave them the fabric to complete a block.  This is the collection of blocks that Myra and I will make into a donation quilt. It will be donated to our local MCC quilt auction.

Vicki’s Show and Tell. A past bmd retreat project using our bohemian Rhapsody collection.

Anne-Marie’s show and tell. Love Joy Peace banded quilt.

Sara’s UFO from last year’s retreat, Ahead of the curve.

There is always a real sadness when everybody goes home on Sunday. We always hear “it’s never long enough”.

Then there is the FOOD! Myra and I try to take really good care of everyone. This includes feeding everybody! We have an amazing cook, named George who caters us. We never leave hungry.  He gave us a real treat this year for Sunday brunch…made to order breakfast skillets…mmmm

So I hope you can now understand why our retreat fills up so fast…we have a BLAST!

AND the Winners of the EXTRA goody bags – that means 2, ARE comments  Marlene & Paula!! Thanks for all the participation I would love to see 28 comments on our blog everyday – LOVE hearing from you guys.

p.s and a shout out to our retreat gang – Thanks for a great time!! Your support and friendship mean the world to us.

It looks like you all had a wonderful time. I loved the pictures of the show and tell and especially the quilt blocks everyone made. Not one of them was a duplicate and they all look beautiful together. That will make a fabulous quilt and some lucky person will truly treasure it.

Looks like you know how to show everyone a great time! And the food, mmm. The completed quilts are beautiful! I’m really impressed with your donation quilt. Is this something you have always done at your retreats?
Not only will it be stunning but also heartwarming! You did good!! That’s what my grandmother would have said.
